Design & Development

Mechanical: In-house design through a staff of highly qualified and competent mechanical Engineers all have vast levels of expertise in their fields, using CAD. Analytical tools such as FEM and engineering modeling software to simulate our designs are used to aid performance validation and structural integrity assessment. Mechanical simulation and analysis, which includes techniques such as FEA, predicts the stresses, strains and deformations of components and environmental interaction of a design prior to manufacturing.

Electronics: In-house as well as subcontractor design capability exists with extensive experience designing electronic and Radio Frequency (RF) circuitry used in our weapons fuzing applications.  Stringent durability, performance and environmental requirements of these products contribute to our proven track record in designing, developing, testing and producing electronic circuitry. Electronic experience includes:-

  • Precision engineering measurement (temperature, airflow, velocity, pressure, ...)
  • Microprocessor design
  • Programmable logic: PLD, CPLD and FPGA
  • Signal processing, DSP and analogue
  • Radio Frequency Design
  • Safe & Arm electromechanical mechanisms
  • Hardened electronic packaging solutions.

DFT’s design facilities are staffed by a complement of highly skilled and dedicated weapons experts and design engineers.  Our products are designed, developed, assembled, integrated, inspected and tested according to strict Military standards.

Weapons specific niches includes design of weapon products covering the following activities:-

composites, fiber winding, plastics, moulding  techniques, welding, forging, machining, surface treatments, painting, Radio Frequency design and electronic design.
